It is time for Oregon to consider a different approach. I refuse to be a part of this compromised and inequitable system any longer; and I will not allow further executions while I am Governor.

Because she felt so strongly about Occupy Wall Street, Florida woman Stacy Hessler left her family in Florida to go to the protests in New York. Fox News calls Hessler worse than the rest of the “filth” at Occupy Wall Street and notes that she’s “clearly having a midlife crisis of some sort,” while suggesting that she’s having an extramarital affair with a waiter at the protests and intimating that she’s protesting the banks because her husband is a banker and they have some underlying marital problems that she’s dealing with. This video will make you feel ill…

‘Laundry Room’ - The Avett Brothers

On November 2nd, 2008, the Avett Brothers, those venerable sons of NC, performed for a full house at Memorial Hall on UNC Chapel Hill campus. The crowd was eager to hear whatever the band brought forth, songs old and new. Here, the band performs “Laundry Room.”

Cirque Productions and friends were on hand to shoot the entire show using five HD cameras. We grabbed a stereo board mix on one camera and set up a small hard drive recorder with some room mics on the balcony, and mixed the two in post for the audio.

Camera Operators: Peter Bell, Brian Burnham, Daniel Pierce, Michael Cusack O’Connell, Leon Godwin. Edited by Leon Godwin. Produced by Cirque Productions.

“If you go into a bar in most places in America and even say the word poetry, you’ll probably get beaten up. But poetry is a really strong, beautiful form to me, and a lot of innovation in language comes from poetry.”

Designer and generative photographer Ishac Bertran‘s latest project is taking sampling in bold, painstaking new directions. With a nod to the analog days of yore, when sampling music meant having to physically cut and paste audio tape together, Bertran’s decided to transfer that technique to an even older music technology: vinyl records. How? Well, by quite simply cutting pieces out and refitting them into different records. Nothing to it. And after some trial and error (and burnt vinyl), he found the best technique for doing this was with a lazer cutter.
